Police report that a California woman has been arrested for the theft of 65 Stanley cups, totaling nearly $2,500 in value.
On January 17, Roseville police officers responded to a store following reports from workers who witnessed a 23-year-old Sacramento woman taking a shopping cart filled with water bottles without making any payment. Despite store staff’s attempts to intervene, she refused to halt and proceeded to load her car with the stolen merchandise.
An officer observed the unidentified woman as she entered Highway 65 from Galleria Boulevard, leading to her being pulled over and arrested on a grand theft charge.
The suspect has further been identified as Delany Garcia-Lopez.
“While Stanley Quenchers are all the rage, we strongly advise against turning to crime to fulfill your hydration habits,” the Roseville police department wrote on Facebook with photos of all the cups recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.
The surge in popularity of Stanley tumblers can be attributed to effective social media marketing, the introduction of distinctive color variations, and collaborative efforts with other brands.
