Workplace fatigue is the subject of more and more online discussions and media articles. We could joke and say, “Who isn’t tired of working?” but that’s not the real point. Workplace fatigue and burnout are real issues attributed to longer work hours and increased work demands for many workers across the country both in offices and remote. But what exactly is it, and how do companies mitigate the risks?

In this presentation from a September 2022 LPM webinar, Imelda Wong, program coordinator at the Center for Work and Fatigue Research at the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, reviews the factors contributing to and effects of work-related fatigue, how the issue is being compounded based on the current retail trends and societal challenges, and what organizations can do create safer, healthier workplaces.
