“Most of our shrink is driven around process execution. Our focus has been much more in tune with how we manage inventory growth and how we dispose of damaged inventory and returns,” says Gary Smith, LPC, senior director of asset protection for Walmart’s Neighborhood Market grocery stores. Smith and LP Magazine’s Jim Lee, LPC, discuss grocery-related loss prevention and safety issues ahead of the upcoming Food Marketing Institute’s asset protection conference March 14-17 in Tucson in the January-February 2016 print edition.

Also in this edition, management researcher and consultant Bruce Tulgan – a frequent contributor to the magazine over the past fifteen years – gives managers insights and recommendations for teaching the missing basics to today’s young talent in his article entitled “The Soft Skills Gap and Generation Z.” The article is excerpted from the prolific author’s latest book, Bridging the Soft Skills Gap.
