From September 23-25, industry professionals from the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), LP Magazine, and the Loss Prevention Foundation gathered in Charleston, S.C. for the annual leadership meeting. In the latest EyeOnLP video, host Penelope Hayes talks to leading LP practitioners and solution providers about this year’s event highlights and memorable moments.

On Wednesday, September 23, the LP Magazine Vendor Advisory Board met to address the shifting landscape of loss prevention and how the magazine can continue to improve its print and digital offerings for our readers. Louise Henham from LP Magazine EU was on hand to share successes from Europe’s loss prevention community.

Readership survey results were revealed for board members and attendees at the magazine meeting. A panel of six industry executives discussed the future of the industry and generated new ideas for editorial content, and the LP Magazine team presented a sneak peek of their latest digital strategy and offerings for the LP community. Adrian Beck, professor of criminology at the University of Leicester, also shared insights into mobile inventory management technologies and their potential impact on shrinkage.

At the RILA meeting, the Asset Protection Leaders Council discussed upcoming initiatives and critical issues faced by today’s loss prevention professionals in the retail industry. For more information, visit www.rila.org.

One highlight of the 2015 annual meeting was the Thursday night dinner conversation with former Naismith College Coach of the Year Bobby Cremins, who formerly coached basketball at Appalachian State, Georgia Tech, and the College of Charleston. Cremins shared anecdotes from his coaching days and took questions from the audience about his career and business experiences.

The Loss Prevention Foundation met on Friday morning to review committee updates and discuss expectations and growth plans for the LPC and LPQ certification programs.
