South Carolina Shoplifter Bites Off Loss Prevention Officer’s Finger

After being convicted of beating her strip club co-worker with a stiletto shoe, a South Carolina woman has been arrested after she bit off the finger of a loss prevention officer who was trying to apprehend her for shoplifting various merchandise.

The feisty woman, who was convicted last year of walloping a fellow strip club employee over the head with a stiletto shoe, was arrested last week after she bit off the finger of a Walmart loss prevention employee who tried to stop her from shoplifting condoms, lubricant, and panties, according to police.

The Smoking Gun is reporting that a pair of Walmart Loss Prevention Officers confronted Carolynn Wright, a 23-year-old woman, after they observed her conceal the merchandise. The woman allegedly struck one of the officers in the head causing bleeding to her left ear. Next, she bit down on the officer’s finger “causing a portion of the finger to be bitten off,” according to reports.

Trying to be a Good Samaritan, a customer tried to call 911, but dropped her phone in the process. Wright grabbed the phone and refused to give it back to the customer, and allegedly then began pulling the customer’s hair, who in turn retaliated by punching Wright in the face.

Upon arrival, local police noticed “a piece of a finger” belonging to the Loss Prevention Officer. The finger, which was then turned over to responding EMS workers, “was not able to be reattached” according to police.

Charged with aggravated assault, a felony, simple assault, and larceny, Wright is being held without bond in advance of a court hearing next week.

In March of 2015, Wright plead guilty to a misdemeanor assault and battery charge stemming from her arrest for battering a coworker with a “clear plastic high-heeled shoe” during a confrontation at Chez Joey, a Myrtle Beach gentlemen’s club. As detailed in a police report, Wright, who worked as a stripper, attacked the victim inside a club bathroom around 2 AM. The victim was treated at a local hospital for a swollen left eye, swelling to her forehead, and puncture wounds to her scalp. Wright was sentenced to six days in jail and ordered to pay fines and court costs totaling $173.90.
