Skimmer Scam Involved 241 Fake Credit Cards and 10 Skimmers

A man has been accused of using hundreds of fake credit cards and data skimmers at Round Rock gas stations and elsewhere in Texas, an arrest affidavit said.

Didier Gonzalez-Perez, 36, of Round Rock was charged with engaging in organized crime, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison. A man and the man’s girlfriend also engaged in the scam with him, police said. They have not yet been charged, according to Williamson County jail records.

Austin police told Round Rock police in March that Gonzalez-Perez and another man had been placing credit card skimmers in gas pumps and later retrieving the credit card information using Bluetooth technology, the affidavit said. The men would then re-encode… Statesman
