Shoplifting Suspects Arrested after Running Car over Police Bike

Redmond Police say two women were arrested after they shoplifted two carts full of toys from a Fred Meyer in Redmond on Wednesday.

An employee flagged down two officers inside the store around 5 PM on Wednesday to report a theft, police say. The officers then approached the two suspects as they loaded the stolen items in their car.

The two got into the vehicle and the driver quickly accelerated in attempt to leave, dragging one of the officers a short distance before hitting a post, police say. The officer avoided being hit by the car, but his police bike was crushed.

The driver of the car was arrested for assaulting a police officer, destroying the police bike, theft, resisting arrest, DUI, reckless driving, and driving without a suspended license, police say.

The passenger was arrested for assault, obstructing, and resisting arrest. Police say she bit an officer and spit in his face and then attempted to punch another officer and put her in a headlock. Both officers involved were not seriously injured…   KOMO News
