Shoplifting attempt leads to deadly shooting at grocery store in New Mexico

A man was shot and killed late Wednesday night after an apparent shoplifting attempt.  According to an Albuquerque Police Spokesman, a woman was being held inside a local Albertson’s by loss prevention when a man rammed the front doors of the store with his vehicle to try and help her escape. A fight between a security guard and the man in the vehicle ensued, and the security guard shot the man.

The suspect later died at the hospital. The security guard was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and is not expected to face any charges.
