A Buffalo, New York, woman pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree manslaughter for causing the death of a friend in a two-car crash that happened as they fled from a store after being accused of shoplifting, according to Erie County prosecutors.
Aleia Easley, 23, pleaded guilty to the highest charge against her in connection with the April 23 death of Jacquelyn McClain, 21, of Buffalo, Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn said.
At approximately 8 PM that day, Easley and McClain were confronted by a loss prevention officer from Save A Lot on Rossler Avenue in Cheektowaga. The two fled and Easley drove away at a high rate of speed through a red light before colliding with another vehicle. McClain was ejected from Easley’s vehicle. Easley suffered serious injuries.
