Sheriff’s Deputies Indicted for Post-Tornado Retail Theft

Dallas County deputies Joseph Bobadilla, 25, and Rebecca Evans, 41, were charged with theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000, KTVT-TV (Channel 11) reported. The thievery, including tools and other items, took place while the store was in an area subject to a state of disaster, the news station said.

Bobadilla had been working off-duty as a guard at the Forest Lane Home Depot after it was destroyed on October 20, when several tornadoes ripped through the Dallas area. “During his shifts, Bobadilla would take items from the store and later exchange them at another location for in-store credit, subsequently purchasing items with the in-store credits he received,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release following the pair’s arrest… The Dallas Morning News
