Serial Shoplifting Suspect Targets Hardware Stores

Authorities are seeking the public’s help to catch a serial shoplifting suspect who they say has stolen thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise from multiple Harbor Freight locations.

Gwinnett County Police say that Jared Pierce most recently took a dolly full of welders Sunday from Harbor Freight in Lawrenceville, walking right past an employee who tried to stop him.

Pierce has stolen from multiple Harbor Freights over the last 14 months, according to a statement Monday from the Gwinnett County Police Department. He typically targets welders, plasma cutters and generators during his thefts.

Pierce is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 245 pounds. He has long dreadlocks that he often pulls back, and he walks with a distinct limp, according to the Gwinnett police statement.

Anyone with information in this case can call Gwinnett County detectives at 770.513.5300. To remain anonymous, tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at 404.577.8477 (TIPS) or visit their website.
