Canton police officers took a suspected liquor thief into custody after tasering him outside the Sam’s Club on Ford Road. Along with store personnel, they are accusing him of stealing hundreds of dollars worth of liquor, along with a backpack, in late May.
According to a police report, police were dispatched to the store shortly before 1:30 p.m. on May 22 because someone was leaving without paying for several bottles of liquor. Upon arrival, someone identified the thief to an officer. The thief dropped his backpack and an officer began driving toward him.
