Pair Accused of Stealing $10,000 in Textbooks

Two North Carolinians have been charged with stealing $10,000 worth of textbooks over several months from the bookstore on the Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) campus, authorities said.

Brandy Marie Yarbrough, 22, of Fuquay-Varina, and Chad Allen, 25, of Lillington, were arrested Sunday. They are facing possession of stolen goods, conspiracy, larceny and numerous counts of misdemeanor larceny by removing/destroying/deactivating an anti-theft device, as well as organized retail theft charges, according to Sgt. Shawn Strepay, a spokesman for the Fayetteville Police Department.

Yarbrough faces similar misdemeanor charges in Wake and Johnston counties, FTCC said in a statement. “The two would enter the business, shoplift items including books, and then sell the books (to) businesses that specialize in reselling books,” Strepay said. Neither Yarbrough nor Allen are students at FTCC, police said… The Fayetteville Observer
