NRF PROTECT 2024 Comes to an End

The 2024 NRF PROTECT Conference in Long Beach, California came to an end yesterday, June 6 with another jam-packed day of learning and networking.

The day started with a keynote session about hacking retail, allowing attendees to get into the minds of hackers. Led by Ted Harrington—the number one bestselling author of Hackable—this dynamic keynote session taught how hackers think, how to apply the hacker mindset to other objectives, and how to handle the intersection of physical and digital.

Next, attendees were able to choose from a variety of breakout sessions covering pressing LP topics—cybersecurity, vulnerable locations, handling the homeless with empathy, and legislation were just a few—before the expo hall and experiences opened mid-morning.

Besides the many booths and games in the hall, there were more educational sessions at the Big Ideas Stage, including one on RFID moderated by LPM Editor-in-Chief and VP Stefanie Hoover, CFI, featuring Rexall Pharmacy Group Director of AP Daryl Blackmore and Avery Dennison Director of Retail Transformation Services Marshall Kay (learn more about how RFID is transforming LP in our new RFID Special Issue!)

Once the expo hall closed, there were more breakout sessions before a fireside chat with the NRF’s David Johnston and San Diego County DA and NDAA President-Elect Summer Stephen. The day ended with a keynote session from ESPN Football Analyst Herm Edwards where he shared the experiences that have shaped his approach to life and why he aims to make something out of every day.
