Mind Matters: Navigating Mental Health in Forensic Interviewing

Join us on Thursday, May 22, from 2 – 4 p.m. EST for a powerful and timely webinar in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month. This session explores the intersection of mental health, professional investigations, and forensic interviewing—highlighting both the individuals being interviewed and the well-being of the interviewer as well. We’ll begin with “Protecting Your Mental Health in High Stress Roles: A Practical Approach,” presented by Jaclyn Rodriguez, BSN, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P. Drawing on her extensive experience in emergency and forensic nursing, Jaclyn will share practical self-care strategies and discuss the mental toll high stakes roles can have on professionals in emotionally charged environments.

The second session features an expert panel of investigators and forensic interviewers who will lead an insightful discussion on the preparation and mental readiness needed to conduct interviews—especially when engaging with individuals in distress, including younger employees more prone to anxiety and stress. The panel will explore how to recognize signs of mental crisis in subjects and how interviewers can manage the emotional and psychological strain that can come from these interactions. This session offers critical takeaways for anyone conducting interviews in high-pressure roles, with a focus on resilience, empathy, and long-term well-being for investigators and interviewers alike. Whether you conduct interviews in loss prevention, HR, security, or compliance this session will offer critical insights and practical tools to support both the well-being of those you interview—and your own self-care.
