Sue Knol, corporate investigations analyst for Meijer, was recently recognized by the Kent County (Michigan) Sheriff’s Department as a community hero for her partnership with sheriff investigators.

In a letter to Meijer, Detective Andy Hinds of the Kent County Sheriff’s major case team said, “Over the past several years, I have had the opportunity to work with Sue Knol while investigating many criminal cases. I cannot thank Sue and Meijer enough for all of the assistance, investigation hours, and service that has been provided.”

Det. Hinds added, “Law enforcement most definitely counts on businesses owners, corporations, and citizens to help solve crime. There is no question that Sue Knol’s work ethic, determination, and Meijer’s willingness to help has saved lives and assisted the victims of crimes.”

Digital Partners

A 35-year veteran of Meijer’s loss prevention team, Knol has been a valuable partner to many law enforcement agencies in the area, using her investigative and search techniques to help police solve serious crimes.

As an example, on July 14, 2019, law enforcement responded to numerous gun store burglaries that had occurred throughout the county. Over 40 handguns were stolen that week. Detectives contacted Knol requesting assistance in checking Meijer store locations for surveillance footage of the suspects. She was able to find four individuals entering a Meijer store wearing the same clothing worn during the burglaries. The footage aided in identifying the suspects. Numerous guns were recovered, and the suspects were arrested.

Paul Jaeckle, LPC, vice president of asset protection retail operations for Meijer, said, “What a pleasure to see one of our great team members be recognized by Silent Observer of Grand Rapids with the Community Hero Award for the Law Enforcement Partnership Award. Great job Sue and congratulations.”

LP Magazine also congratulates Knol for this recognition. She is an example of the best that loss prevention professionals provide to their company and community.
