Masked Thieves Steal $20K in Designer Purses

Five people with scarves over their faces stole thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from the high-end Louis Vuitton store at Northbrook Court Mall in Northbrook (Illinois) Monday night, authorities said.

In a quick incident described by Northbrook authorities as happening in “just a matter of seconds,” the five suspects entered the store at 7:30 PM, grabbed about 10 purses, and ran outside to a white sedan. Officers saw the sedan fleeing east at a “very high rate of speed” on Lake Cook Road, according to a village news release Tuesday.

The purses were worth $20,000, Northbrook Deputy Chief Dan Strickland said in the release. Witnesses described the suspects as male teenagers wearing scarves over their faces, according to the release. No one was injured.

Northbrook police are in contact with the Chicago Police Department, but authorities don’t know yet if it was related to a Chicago incident about 24 miles away that also occurred Monday night, the release stated.
