LP and Police ‘Blitz’ Leads to Multiple Shoplifting Arrests

Law enforcement’s recent 2-day blitz to nab shoplifters in Troy resulted in 27 charges related to retail crime, the Troy Police Department is reporting.

Conducted January 28 and 29, the crackdown was a partnership of Troy police, the Michigan State Police Fraud Investigation Section and loss prevention workers from 13 different stores. The Canton Police Department was also part of the effort, authorities said.

Among those arrested were a male and female from Detroit, both age 30, who were reportedly seen stealing and then were found with more than $700 in merchandise they hadn’t paid for from Victoria’s Secret, Dick’s Sporting Goods, JCPenney and Bath and Body Works at Oakland Mall. Child Protective Services was brought on the case because the pair had the woman’s 7-year-old daughter with them, police said… The Oakland Press
