Police in College Station, Texas, say a Sam’s Club employee stole $2,100 in gift cards over three weeks. According to authorities, Summer Downey, 21, loaded the gift cards from the register for herself over the first few weeks of June. They say each transaction was for $20. There were over 100 separate transactions during that time.
Supervisors caught her using surveillance video and register transaction records. She was arrested Tuesday and charged with theft. Another employee, Monika Rivera, was arrested on July 12 for allegedly doing the same thing, but police wouldn’t say if the two cases were possibly connected. Rivera is accused of loading up $320 on gift cards on 16 separate transactions in June around the same time Downey was allegedly doing it… KBTX-TV3
