Employee Accused of ‘Under Ringing’ Items, Charged with Grand Theft

A South Dakota Walmart employee is facing charges of grand theft after being accused of taking more than $1,500 worth of items from the store. Lydia Toby, 21, was indicted by a Minnehaha County grand jury last week on one count of grand theft, a Class 6 felony.

A Walmart loss prevention employee began looking into the matter when a cash register Toby had worked on was short $100 in July 2018, according to documents. The loss prevention employee started watching security footage of Toby and saw her scan a gift card from her pocket and load $100 to the card, and cashed it out for herself, according to an affidavit in support of an arrest warrant… Argus Leader
