Employee Accused of $10K Jewelry Theft

An employee at Kay Jewelers at North Grand Mall in Ames, Iowa, has been arrested, accused of stealing six pieces of jewelry valued at more than $10,000. Priscilla K. Magee, 31, of Ames, was charged with first-degree theft, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, after Ames police searched her apartment at 4210 Lincoln Swing on Saturday, said Ames Police Commander Jason Tuttle. A representative of Kay Jewelers declined to comment Tuesday about the theft.

According to Tuttle, a Kay Jewelers employee reported to police on Friday that some jewelry had been stolen from the store, and when the store manager interviewed Magee, she started yelling and left before the end of her shift. The store began a log, tracking the missing items from the store on August 9, and the dates the jewelry went missing matched Magee’s work schedule, police said. According to Tuttle… Ames Tribune
