Kim Kardashian admitted in a recent Bustle interview that when she and her sister Khloe were teens on vacation in Hawaii, they once swiped a pair of Dior sunglasses from an unmanned shop. Kardashian reportedly giggled while recounting the incident.

Shoplifting is one of the most prevalent crimes in the country, with about one in 11 sticky-fingered Americans stealing things off of shelves, according to the National Association for Shoplifting Prevention (NASP). The non-profit leads shoplifting prevention efforts, including education and rehabilitation programs to get shoplifters to stop stealing.

Its research has found that more than $13 billion in goods is shoplifted from retailers each year, or more than $35 million in losses per day. “It’s not a joke, and it’s not funny,” Barbara C.
