Couple Arrested for Allegedly Stealing $2K Worth of Merchandise

A man and woman were arrested on the Peninsula last week in connection with thefts spanning from Redwood City to San Francisco.

At around 10 PM on December 31st, San Mateo County (California) Sheriff’s deputies from the San Carlos Police Bureau arrived at Walgreens at 1414 El Camino Real for reports of a theft, said Detective Rosemerry Blanskswade.

A witness had followed the suspects down the parallel Old County Road after they left the store on foot, Blankswade said. Deputies caught up around two miles away, across the street from the Belmont Caltrain station, where the suspects were each lugging several backpacks.

Inside, deputies found a smorgasbord of stolen goods from thefts at the Walgreens, a Safeway in Redwood City and an auto burglary in San Francisco — including hand creams and lotions, lubricant, an ovulation kit, razor blades and prenatal vitamins retailing for $102, Blankswade said.
