A 23-year-old man was sentenced to nine years in prison in connection with the armed robbery of a Union Gap, Washington, store last year. Jaime Larios Miranda, 23, pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment for the April 24, 2018 incident.
During the incident, police say Miranda attempted to steal about $100 worth of clothes from Macy’s by hiding them under his own. Three loss prevention officers prevented him from leaving and took him to a back office, court documents said. When employees asked Miranda if he had any weapons on him, witnesses told police he pulled a gun from his waistband, pointed it at the employees and told them to back away.
Miranda reportedly attempted to take a female employee with him at gunpoint, but was unsuccessful. He left through a door leading to the store parking lot, where a woman was waiting with the getaway car, court documents said.
