Three Arrested After Ramming Vehicle into Patrol Car and Fleeing

A suspect in a shoplifting rammed a patrol car with his vehicle and ran from the scene before being arrested early Sunday, police say.

Authorities were initially called to a shoplifting report at 4:30 AM on the 1900 block of East 12th Street, police spokesman Sam Clemens said.

When officers arrived, they spotted a truck that had been reported stolen in the Super 8 Motel parking lot, Clemens said. The driver of the truck, 18-year-old Jerius Josiah Swifteagle, from Sioux Falls, rammed into the patrol car twice, lodging the truck into the car, Clemens said.

Swifteagle and a front-seat passenger, 28-year-old Gladys Marie Denoyer, fled the scene but were later found and arrested. Swifteagle faces multiple charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, DUI, aggravated assault of law enforcement and fleeing police, Clemens said.

Denoyer was found running along the interstate, and Swifteagle was found hiding in an unlocked car in a nearby apartment complex, Clemens said. Denoyer was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and fleeing police
