Shoplifting Turns into Officer Involved Shooting

The Muskogee Police Department in Oklahoma says three officers were involved in a shooting with a suspected shoplifter Wednesday night. Around 9 PM, officers were called to a convenience store near Gibson Street and East Side Boulevard for a suspect shoplifting a lighter and lighter fluid. Witnesses told police the man had also tried to set a child’s bicycle on fire. Investigators learned the suspect was possibly at a home a couple blocks down the road.

When officers knocked on the front door of the house, the suspect inside threw a lighted substance at the glass front door. Police immediately surrounded the home and made contact with a woman inside.

Police said the suspect threw another lighted incendiary device in his mother’s face as they were trying to talk to her. That’s when one officer fired several rounds at the suspect. At least two bullets… ABC8 Tulsa
