LPF Announces Strategic Partnership with the University of Florida

The Loss Prevention Foundation has recently announced a new partnership with the University of Florida that aims to benefit UF students and the loss prevention/asset protection community.

Through this strategic partnership with the LPF, UF, a top 10 US public university, will begin offering the Loss Prevention Foundation’s LPQualified course. The LPQ certification will open many employment opportunities for criminal justice students as well as others with majors in the field of retail loss prevention and security. In return, the LPF will help promote UF online courses to LP/AP leaders and associates.

The University of Florida offers the online certificate course, “Introduction to Evidence-Based Loss Prevention,” to non-UF working professionals. This course is designed to help participants better understand how to use a theory-driven, evidence-based, systematic crime prevention process that uses case studies to provide students with practical application in making people, places, and assets safer and more secure.

“The University of Florida has an almost 30-year LP/AP support legacy, including the National Retail Security Survey with NRF, Dr. Richard Hollinger’s and other LP courses, and faculty and grad students working on Loss Prevention Research Council projects. This exciting LPF opportunity allows UF to further support the important asset protection community” said UF Research Scientist Dr. Read Hayes.

“We are excited for this new opportunity with the University of Florida,” said Terry Sullivan, LPC, president of the LPF. “This partnership allows the LPF to contribute to the education of UF students by making it possible for them to graduate with not only a bachelor’s degree but an LPQ certification. It will also give the LPF a chance to offer continuing education units to our LPCertified professionals who choose to take the UF course. This is really a ‘win-win’ for all involved.”
