LPF Attends the University of Cincinnati’s Criminal Justice Career Expo

The University of Cincinnati’s (UC) 20th Annual Criminal Justice Career Expo on March 8th was a huge success, with more than 60 public- and private-sector employers in attendance, including Target’s assets protection department and the Loss Prevention Foundation. The career expo provides an excellent opportunity for criminal justice students to find internships, job opportunities, and connections with a variety of employers while reviewing potential career options with various industry leaders and subject matter experts. According to Susan Bourke, director of undergraduate studies for the School of Criminal Justice, over 300 students attended the event.

“It is always rewarding to meet professionals looking to advance their knowledge and skill set,” said Mat Schriner, LPC, senior director of operations at the Loss Prevention Foundation. “I had the pleasure of meeting several students and other professionals during the job fair at the University of Cincinnati. This event is always well-attended and a great opportunity to engage with the upcoming talent for internships and openings.”

Asset protection continues to be a growing, popular, and rewarding career path within the private sector. Karl Langhorst, LPC, former senior corporate director of loss prevention for The Kroger Company, teaches “Asset Protection for Retailers” at the University of Cincinnati School of Criminal Justice. This course provides a foundation for students interested in the asset protection career path and the opportunity for students to receive their LPQualified Certification.

The University of Cincinnati’s School of Criminal Justice is consistently ranked among the top 15 best criminal justice schools by US News & World Report. UC offers a Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree that is delivered 100 percent online. Students enrolled in this four-year online program receive the same quality instruction as resident students. Many students qualify for some form of financial aid, including federal grants or military benefits.
