First Shoplift Arrest At Store Came Before Grand Opening

An Illinois man was arrested for retail theft at the new upscale Von Maur department store at Orland Square Mall before some even knew the store had opened. Deondre J. Williams, 23, of Calumet Park was arrested there on October 28. The store celebrated its grand opening a few days later on November 2.

Orland Park police were inside the store at 7:25 PM on the 28th conducting a “business check,” according to a police report. While there, they saw a man they say was later identified as Williams take some Nike clothing off the shelf and into a fitting room.
