Suspect in shoplifting incident killed by train

Police in Lantana, Florida, say a Brightline mass transportation train struck and killed a woman Wednesday evening. It happened around 5:40 p.m. on the tracks just north of Hypoluxo Road, according to police.

Police say an investigation determined the woman was connected to a suspected shoplifting incident at the nearby K-Mart shortly before being hit by the train.

K-Mart loss prevention associates witnessed shoplifting involving two women, according to a Lantana investigator. He said a loss prevention associate told the women to stay put…but one ran. Authoriies said neither police nor loss prevention chased her. She has not yet been identified.   [Source: WPTV5 News]
