Customers Shocked after Security Guard Shot During Robbery

Metro Nashville Police in Tennessee are searching for the man who shot a security guard during a robbery early Monday morning. The gunman opened fire, critically wounding an unarmed, uniformed, security guard at Rite Aid, which is open for business 24 hours a day. Early Monday customers were shocked that despite the busy intersection, the store is the scene of a crime. “I think it’s sad the way things are working out in society nowadays,” Rashad Wilson said. “We have armed robberies and just like last night. I saw on the news. It was 16-year-old girl who was shot and killed. A lot of things going on.”

Metro Police said a gunman wearing a bandanna over his face approached two employees and unarmed security guard Garion Bogard around 4 a.m. The clerks complied with his demands for money. Police said they’re unsure why the gunman shot Bogard as he fled with the bag of cash. “We’ve heard shootings, a shootout by our window,” Tracy Wilson said. “We’re not from the city so it’s different for us. It’s scary.”  Jadaya Lee Taylor said Garion Bogard is one of her best friends. “He’s really funny,” Taylor said. “He’s outgoing. He’ll always have you smiling no matter what. He’s like a brother to me.” Taylor said Bogard took pride in his job protecting those he worked with. Tonight she’s praying her friend will pull through. “God has miracles, and miracles happen every day,” Taylor said. “I’m a firm believer. Just got have a positive attitude. He’s a strong man I know he’s going to make it.”
