Serial shoplifting suspects apprehended
Charlotte County Sheriff’s Deputies in , Florida, arrested four women for shoplifting at Walmart on Tuesday. According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, an employee recognized two out of the four women as suspects in a recent liquor store theft. The witness says that Tamesha Davis, Harneisha Loggins, Tardazia Seay and Tamara Thomas picked up chicken and lemonade, then walked out the store without paying for it. Deputies were waiting outside for the women and they were detained on retail theft charges.
All four women were arrested on retail theft charges for the crimes at Walmart; Davis and Thomas were also charged with Violation of Probation, and Loggins with Violation of Pretrial Release. Additionally, deputies say that they found clothing in Thomas’s car in the Walmart parking lot that still had security tags attached to it. Detectives met with Macy’s Loss Prevention at the Port Charlotte Town Center and confirmed that the clothes in the car were stolen from Macy’s. In addition to the other charges, all four suspects are charged with Grand Theft ($300-$5000) for the stolen clothes from Macy’s.  [For more: MySunCoast News]
Employee accused of grand larceny
A Staples employee was accused Wednesday of completing fraudulent transactions over the course of several months and applying more than $3,000 to gift cards for his own personal use. Staples’ loss prevention staff filed a complaint with Ulster town police on Wednesday. Following an investigation by patrol officers and detectives, the employee, Francis J. Smith, 39, of Kingston, was charged with third-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records, both felonies. He was arraigned in Town of Ulster Justice Court and released on his own recognizance, pending a future court appearance.  [For more: Times Herald-Record]

Suspended Rutgers player involved in credit card fraud probe leaves football program
Simmons was one of six Rutgers scholarship players left off the team’s 110-player training camp roster this summer. Redshirt junior linebacker/safety Malik Dixon, senior defensive back Kobe Marfo, sophomore defensive end C.J. Onyechi, redshirt freshman cornerback Edwin Lopez and redshirt freshman defensive back Naijee Jones are the others.
Rutgers coach Chris Ash told NJ Advance Media the six players are part of an ongoing investigation and their future status with the program will be determined by the outcome of the probe. Rutgers University Police is handling investigation, which focuses on allegations of credit card fraud. NJ Advance Media first reported the news about the investigation on July 13. None of the players at this point have been charged with any wrongdoing. Attempts to reach Simmons on Friday were unsuccessful.
In a separate picture, Simmons wrote: “I would like to thank Rutgers University for the opportunity this past year and thank the coaches for helping me progress as an individual on and off the field. Retailer bets on brand loyalty with new membership program
J. Crew has launched a free, card-less loyalty program, where participants can earn a $5 reward after they accumulate 200 points, at a point for each dollar spent, the brand told Retail Dive in an email. Members also get free shipping if they order while signed into the retailer’s loyalty portal online, as well as access to “personalized offers and events,” a spokesperson said. J.
