The Loss Prevention Benevolent Fund (LPBF) Receives IRS Tax Exempt Status

The Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF) announced today that the Loss Prevention Benevolent Fund, Inc., dedicated to helping loss prevention/asset protection professionals and their families in need, has been approved as a tax exempt 501(c)(3) charity organization effective June 6, 2016.

“We are very pleased with the expediency in which we obtained IRS approval. It is a testament to how dedicated the LPF Board of Directors and LPBF committee have been in supporting our efforts and working hard to help those in need,” said Gene Smith, LPC, President of The Loss Prevention Foundation.

The LP Benevolent Fund was established to provide financial assistance to surviving families who have lost a loved one while preforming the duties of the loss prevention/asset protection profession. LPBF was also established to provide financial grants to eligible participants who experience a verifiable economic hardship as a result of qualifying circumstances. Situations that could qualify for a grant include: serious medical issues, death of a dependent, natural disaster, no permanent shelter, homelessness, etc. Applications for assistance made to LPBF are kept confidential except as required by law.

“Making donations tax deductible for the donor will encourage many more financial supporters and as a result we will be able to help many more loss prevention professionals and their families during their time of need,” explains Chris Duke, LPC, Chairman of the Loss Prevention Benevolent Fund. “We ask that the LP/AP community at large offer their assistance in helping these families in the time of need by making a generous loving donation.”

LPBF seeks individuals, organizations and businesses who can donate to the fund. We also are accepting volunteers who want to get involved in this worthwhile cause.

“We would like to give special recognition to the teams at RILA, NRF, Staples, AFA and Nutech National for their generous support. It’s really because of them that this charity idea has become a reality,” stated Gene Smith.
