EyeOnLP: A Look Back at Secure Stores Forum 2015

With the Secure Stores Forum 2016 event rapidly approaching, we’re taking a look back at last year’s highlights and hot topics. This year’s event will take place at Eden Roc Miami Beach in Miami, Florida, from February 21-23. For more information, see the listing on our Events page.

From 2015:

The first annual Secure Stores Forum was held February 19-21 in Miami, Florida. A gathering of the top retail loss prevention executives and solution providers across the retail security and loss prevention space gathered to discuss the latest products, solutions and trends impacting the retail environment.

Not only was EyeOnLP there to speak with people and capture this great event, but as the media partner for Secure Stores Forum, LP Magazine kicked off day one with the LP Magazine PowerPanel. Executive Editor Jim Lee, LPC, moderated a distinguished panel of LP executives in a discussion of philosophies, vendor relations, and value adds to the company profit/loss that LP can bring.

Scott Drayer, LPC, director of LP process and strategy from Lowe’s, spoke on leveraging existing and new technology with the customer experience commitment. The LP organization at Lowe’s has long had a reputation for developing new technology and initiatives. Ways in which the solution provider can be a partner or a hindrance to such development was also a central theme of his discussion.

Ken Warfield, SVP of AP at Regis Corporation, shared his experiences of reporting directly to the CEO and the operational demands and benefits that brings to the AP team.

Bob Maclea, SVP of TJX Corp, spoke to the values brought by LP above and beyond the achievement of inventory shrinkage goals.

Later in the day, Paul Jones, LPC, senior director of global asset protection for eBay spoke to the successful partnerships that have been forged between eBay/PayPal, law enforcement, and retailers. Jones also outlined the expectation of rising online credit card fraud due to the new chip and pin technology coming to the U.S. and what retailers can be doing to prepare.

The Secure Stores Forum’s focus is to be a private, invitation-only event in a relaxed environment where retailers and solution providers can meet and share information in an informal, relaxed environment. “This is a warm, welcoming group that really made the most of the time together,” said Scott Goldman, president of Eaton Hall Exhibitions. “The intimacy of an event like this allowed us all to share ideas and get a lot out of the event.”
